**SCOR-PAL TOOL
Patterned paper – October Afternoon and Scenic Route
Rubber stamps – October Afternoon
Stamp pads – Ancient Page/Clearsnap

I used the Scor-Pal to score the card just to fold in in half and then I added embossed lines to the journal print paper. I added emphasis to those lines by lightly rubbing a Fluid Chalk stamp pad across them. That helps them to stand out and be noticed.

Slider card and envelope by Kelly

Today's tutorial courtesy of CPS designer Kelly Grundhauser. Thanks Kelly!!

First, I would like to Thank Scor-Pal for the wonderful opportunity to play and create with this awesome tool. I have had so many ideas. This card I created is one of my favorite types. It is a type of slider card, and by changing the dimensions you can slide out a bag of hot cocoa, a tea bag, a gift card or even a savings bond. The only variables are the height dimensions and the ribbon length. I'd love to see what you all come up with.

I kept this basic to allow your creative minds to run.

Supplies:
Scor Pal
October Afternoon Paper-County Fair
Prism Cardstock
Prima Flowers
Stamps-October Afternoon and Melissa Frances
Buttons By Buttons Galore
Color Box Fluid Chalk Ink Chestnut
Ribbon Creative Impressions

To begin we will start by first making the card base. I started with the October Afternoon patterned cardstock. It was cut to 6x12. Use this as a guide. I was not overly concerned about the width I just knew I wanted the pattern on the front to match so I lined it up using the Scor-Pal. I then scored at the 3 1/2 and 9 inch mark. You can set your size or adjust to match up to your pattern.

Fold your card in on the score lines. You may not be able to see it well in the pictures. But because the patterned cardstock has a white center I scored a few lines running the width of the card into the patterned cardstock. One across the top and two accross the bottom. I then lightly sanded the embossed lines with a sanding block and distressed the edges of the paper.

In this step we will create the band that goes around the middle of the card. I wanted to make the card look like a wrapped gift when you could not see the tag. A gift unto itself I guess. I took a coordinating piece of patterned cardstock and scored in the same place as above. Sanding the eges and adhering to itself. I then added a couple flowers for addeded dimension. The flowers were stamped with October Afternoon stamps for a bit more personality. The band was stamped with the sentiment spanning the entire width then slid into position on the card...

To create this tag all you need to do is create a tag at least one inch smaller in height and width. The tag shown here is 4 3/4 inches square. I then used the ScorPal to score lines into the plain cardstock. I created three stripes going around the entire edge of the tag. I then flipped the tag over sanded the embossed lines and inked the edges of the card. I then added a little sentiment box and embellished with more October Afternoon paper and stamps. The sentiment by Melissa Frances.

Next, in the center top of the card, punch a hole through both the front and back of the card. Take your ribbon and place it through the holes. Take the tag and gently push the ribbon down into the center of the card. Both ends of the the ribbon should be still hanging through the holes one in the front and one in the back. Once the tag has cleared the top of the card tie the ribbon into a bow and cut the remaining tails of the ribbon. The card is now complete.

Let's move on to how to create a coordinating envelope.

Choose a coordianting color cardstock.

Place your card into the center of the cardstock, cardstock set on the diagonal. Score all around the card starting on one side and working your way around. TIP- DO NOT SCORE too closely to the card, you want to leave a small margin of space to allow for the bulkiness of the card, especially if it has a hot cocoa packet in it. :)

Next, cut away the excess cardstock from the outside edge into where the score lines intersect. Fold in on the scored lines.

Add an additonal score line at the top of the envelope for the bulky ribbon to fit. Fold down and embellish. I chose to use coordinating flowers and a button to match the card.

Stamp the handmade stamp by Melissa Frances, and your Slider Card with coordinating envelope is complete.

Handmade envelopes are a breeze with the Scor-Pal. Check back often this week for further projects from the team using this must have tool!

Reader Spotlight and Reader Updates!

This week Lea Lawson was the designer who got to choose our Reader Spotlight. She chose Kimberly's Card.
And she writes:
The first thing I was drawn to on Kimberly's card is the dimension it has- it is just so beautiful. Add to that the rich colors, the gorgeous flower, and that beautiful sentiment tag...it has the making of a perfect card! This is Kimberly's first time doing a CPS sketch, and I think she did an amazing job! I can't wait to see more from her in the future!

And now onto our READER UPDATES...boy there are alot of them this week! :) That always makes me happy!
