Meet Creative Impressions

Another one of our generous contest sponsors is Creative Impressions. If you love ribbons, trims and embellishments, creative impressions is a *must see*. They carry a huge variety of printed ribbons, twill, ginghams, embellishments and more. You may have seen them at your local stores and conventions as well as some mail order catalogs.

Creative Impressions started in 1989 with a $1,000 loan. Janet started selling rubber stamps at craft fairs, on military bases, and in carts at the mall. Janet then opened a 400 square foot store in the Colorado Springs "Old Colorado City" Historic District.

In December of 1995, Janet's oldest of three daughters, Natalie, began working full time in their 900 square foot store. In March of 1998 they moved in the same block to an over 2,500 square foot retail store.

Natalie's main focus was to keep the store stocked with new and exciting products, but you could also find her teaching and working in the store. It was then, when Natalie was looking high and low for a product (painted 1/8" eyelets) that she wanted to use on a project. She did lots of research, and finally ended up buying them with the intention of selling them, wholesale.

Janet & Natalie launched the Creative Impressions wholesale embellishment line of eyelets, brads, & stamps in January of 2002.

Over the last few years, their personal lives have changed. Janet is now the proud Grandma to an adorable, Nicolas and sweet granddaughter, Grace. Natalie is now ready to "catch up" with her younger sisters and start a family of her own. As we met the changing needs of our personal lives and wholesale business, we realized the lifestyle required to run a retail store had become increasingly difficult.

The decision was made in March 2004 to close our retail store of 15 years. It was a decision that was bittersweet and filled with emotion. Especially since our customers were like family & saying goodbye was difficult.

We now have a new warehouse location and we have more time to focus on our wholesale line of products. We are proud to offer a large variety of embellishments to share with you and the world. We have truly been blessed, and appreciate your business and the opportunity to work with you!

Creative Impressions has provided a wonderful gift certificate so the winner will be able to pick and choose from their extensive variety of products. A huge thanks to Creative Impressions for their participation in the contest.

Watch tomorrow for more designs and sponsor information.

Meet Karen Foster Design

How about some more news about one of our great sponsors??

Karen Foster has loved to draw since she was old enough to hold a pencil. She doesn't remember being bored as a child because her mother always had art supplies on-hand. Karen's interest in art continued throughout her youth and she later received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration and Design from Brigham Young University. She worked as a children’s magazine art director and later as a children’s book writer and illustrator before establishing Karen Foster Design.

Karen Foster's first set of eight themed papers were created at her kitchen table and published in the Spring of 1998. Her children packed and shipped the orders from her garage which served as a warehouse. With a burgeoning business to manage, Karen enlisted the help of talented designers and dedicated employees. Through the efforts of her innovative and creative team, the company continues to offer innovative paper and stickers as well as embellishments, rub-ons, albums, tools and storage. Karen Foster Design continues to grow and is headquartered in Centerville, Utah.

Karen Foster Design is a leader in the scrapbook industry because of its original designs, innovative products, attention to new and emerging trends, and focus on the feedback of consumers and retailers. It has won several industry awards including: Creating Keepsakes Reader's Choice Awards and Craftrends awards. KFD products are available in approximately 4000 retail stores across the United States and internationally.

Be sure to check out the Karen Foster Design website to see not only some great design samples but a full line up of great products...including some of which will be give as prizes for the CPS card contest...such as the Snap & Scrap storage, Snap-Stamps and some great papers!!

We would like to send out a huge thank you to Karen Foster Design for their part in this contest.

Be watching throughout the weekend more great designs and info about our generous sponsors.

Meet Prism Papers (Prizes and another contest)

It's time to introduce another one of our card contest sponsors. Today's highlight is Prism Papers.

With their lines of products including the Prismatics line, Metallics line and orders that are shipped within 48 hours Prism Papers provides card stock backed my top notch customer service.

Prism's primary product focus is their popular Prismatics line. Prism Prismatics were chosen as a favorite product in the 2006 "Top Ten" issue published by Creating Keepsakes. This Prismatics line comes in 81 luscious colors. It has a watercolor paper texture on one side and is smooth on the back. (Some also refer to this texture as an "orange peel" texture). Prismatics cardstock is ideal for stamping. It has a nice weight and the texture is subtle enough that takes the ink well. By being smooth on the back it is very versatile for those who like to mix things up a bit. Prismatics are sold both by the sheet as well as in Prismatics Packs which are monochromatic sets of 12 sheets of paper (4 each of 3 colors). Prism now also offers accent packs which are made to be complementary colors of the Prismatics Packs. These packs are great used alone as well because they are in 6x12 sheets making them a perfect size for cards. (Prism also offers a 6.5" square envelope which just the right size for these cards)

Yet another popular product among Prism fans is the expanded Metallics line. These papers have the shimmer we have all came to know and love in this "glitz and glimmer" phase of paper crafting. One very exciting feature in the Metallics line is the smooth texture. This makes them once again perfect for stamping, as well as being a product that adheres better than those with are textured.

In addition to the Prismatics and Metallics lines, Prism also offers a variety of other papers including their Exclusives line in a 27 color variety (only available through Prism), popular colors such as Kraft and Paperbag and a high gloss cardstock which is popular among stampers. Prism swatch books are available for both the exclusives and the Prismatics line. The books usually retail between 5 and 8 dollars each, making that a very affordable investment in which to choose and order your favorite colors.

You can see Prism Papers featured in many of the designs here at CPS as well as in some of the designer's published work. Prism is also the chosen card stock for two of out other sponsors: Cosmo Cricket and Karen Foster Design.

Prism has offered two great prize packs for the CPS card design contest. The winners will receive a three prismatics packs, three coordinating accent packs and some of their 6x6 envelopes which are perfect for the card makers out there.

We would like to thank Prism for sponsoring this contest and hope you will as well.

Also, if you are already familar with Prism (or would like to get some), you might be interested in the new card contest they have going between now and June 4. The following contest details were just recently released:

Prism is thrilled to announce a contest for World Card Making Day! We are hoping you can help us by creating cards that will "WOW" the world! Let your creativity run wild and show us cards for every occasion ( i.e. Birthday, Anniversary, Valentine's Day, etc.) made with Prism Papers.

REQUIREMENTS: The cards can be any size you choose. You are allowed to use tools of your choice...such as punches, die cut machines, stamps, computer printing etc. You can use generic embellishments such as ribbon, mini brads, simple rub ons etc. But if embellishments are used, they should be used in very limited amounts only to accent the card stock. We ask that each card uses Prism Cardstock only (no printed paper). Our goal is for each card to be 99% Prism Cardstock.

Card images must be emailed to by 11:59pm MST on June 4 th along with a product supply list. Product supply list must contain: your first and last name, phone number, and specific names of all cardstock colors used as well as any other accents used. Winners will be announced on our website on June 11th.

The PRIZE for winning cards will be a collection of our wonderful Prismatics valued at over $100.

We hope you are as excited about this contest as we are! We can't wait to be amazed by your incredible talent!
